Greg is waiting at a pier for Ruiz when he gets a call that Ruiz’s body has been found. He makes a beeline for the crime scene and bullies his way up to the body to retrieve the recorder from Ruiz’s body.
In the distance, Ghost is watching the crime scene and Greg. He calls Angie to ask if there’s an indictment coming for him or Tommy for Lobos’s murder. Ghost is nervous because he doesn’t know what exactly is on that tape that Greg retrieved. We know it’s bad. I also think he cared about Ruiz as a friend. When he offed everyone else at the end of last season, he opted to send Ruiz away instead of killing him.
Angie doesn’t know what Ghost is talking about. No one’s told her about Ruiz yet. But she does tell Jamie that says the Feds stopped dealing with him after Lobos’s death. Jamie says he doesn’t trust her. Angie says she’ll protect Jamie because it’s in her own best interest, and she’ll ask about Ruiz.
Greg returns to the Fed office with the recorder and closes the blinds. He makes a call to the Federales looking for information about the agent who gave Mike the tip about Lobos meeting with his distributors awhile back. He’s about to listen to the file on his computer when Black Donovan busts through the door. He wants to know why Greg didn’t tell him about Ruiz’s murder. Donovan says Ruiz’s murder is Greg’’ fault and if folks find out that Ruiz’s murder was a retaliation for working with the Feds, they’re both screwed. Also, if Greg was running Ruiz off the books, he better have something great to show for it to cover his ass. Donovan leaves and Greg calls… someone to meet up at their place. Hmmm…
Jamie is at Truth and Turtle is there with him. Ghost is worried about the tape because he doesn’t know what’s on it, but speculates that Tommy killing Ruiz is probably there unless time ran out. Turtle says they have a conflict as he’s Tommy’s lawyer and Ghost arranged evidence that could send Tommy away. Ghost says Tommy’s best interest is his best interest as the tape could implicate Ghost in multiple felonies. Ghost isn’t sure if Greg even has the device. He also mentions that he and Angie broke up.
Turtle: You fucked that up to? Maybe you could just start a group text to keep us all informed of your fucks ups.
Me: LMAO.
Turtle says he can get the recording excluded as it’s illegal. But if it’s played in open court, Tommy’s going to jail for doing Ruiz. The cops will create the evidence to convict him. And if Ghost is on the tape, he’s going down.
At work, Angie and Sax are in the work kitchen chatting. Angie asks about Ruiz and Sax finally tells her he’s dead.
Karen is at Truth. Ghost paid her in full to be a part of the business conglomerate. Milan and all of his henchman are paying close attention to their conversation. Karen says she’s excited about the upcoming party and their business partnership. They shake hands to Truth going global as Milan listens in.
Later, Milan is at his warehouse sharpening his knives when Tommy arrives. He dismisses his henchman from the conversation to speak with Tommy privately. Milan’s been thinking: they can’t kill Ghost… yet. He needs Truth to expand and if Ghost is dead the deal is off the table. Milan needs Ghost to sign the contracts and make the business relationship with Karen official before he offs him.
Ghost is in all black on a fire escape breaking into someone’s apartment thru the window. It’s Greg’s place! I assume he’s looking for the recorder or the file. He doesn’t think Greg would have ae a copy by now? Anyway, in the bedroom, he sees Angies’ bra on the bed. He turns on a lamp and sees Greg’s crime wall with plenty of pictures of Lobos’s body and Ghost and Tommy. Just then he hears the door open. It’s Angie, who has a key, asking about how things went with MJ and how she called Greg but he didn’t pick up. She goes into the bedroom looking for Greg, as Ghost hides in a corner. Finding Greg not there, she leaves.
Ghost dips from the apartment in a hurry, dropping whatever tool was necessary to re-lock the window. He looses his balance and steadies himself by placing an ungloved hand on the window. This is a rookie mistake. I know this is coming back to bite him.
Greg isn’t home because he’s with his mentor at Homeland Security listening to the Ruiz-Milan tape. Mentor says Greg is crazy for running a CI under the table. They listen to the tape and hear Tommy admit that he and Ghost killed Lobos. Greg says he has James and his mentor points out he has Ghost, not James. There’s no proof they are the same person. Greg says if Ghost killed Lobos, then Angie is involved and she must have told them where Lobos was. Mentor points out that he can’t prove that either. They keep listening and hear Tommy kill Lobos. Greg is giddy. He says he has everything. The mentor points out he has nothing because the recording was illegal and that Ruiz was a CI that he put in grave danger and got him killed. Greg can take the recordings to court, but will get roasted on cross examination and end up in prison. Greg says he can get one of them to flip.
James is driving to Truth when he gets pulled over… by Greg! Greg tells Jamie that he knows that Ghost and Tommy killed Lobos and that Tommy killed Ruiz. But he thinks Angie was the Inside “Man”. He says that if Ghost gives her up, he’ll get him a deal. He also taunts Ghost that he’s f—king Angela now. He adds that she loved Ghost and he went back to his wife. If given the opportunity, Angela will burn him, “like she did me,” Greg says. Ghost says Greg is wrong if he thinks Angela is guilty. Ghost pulls off and Greg goes into his phone to call Mike to ask for a meet at his place to discuss Lobos.
Ghost pulls into the back of Truth to find Tommy waiting for him. He says Milan wants to kill Ghost after the big party, after he signs the documents with Karen, who he thinks is Ghost’s “side b---h.” The plan is for Dre to take over after Ghost is dead since Karen likes him so much. Tommy says they have to “deal with” Milan during the party. Ghost is confused. The party? Too many people around. Tommy tells him to figure it out.
At Greg’s, Mike swings by, as promised. Greg says Angela is the leak, but he can’t prove it yet. Greg starts to explain what he has on her, but then his phone rings. It’s the Mexican Federal Police. They can’t find record of a tip to Mike. The agent who Mike said gave a tip died a year ago. Greg quickly figures out that Mike is the leak, not Angela.
Greg offers Mike a beer to stall while he processes his thoughts. He recalls all the times Mike’s story hasn’t added up. For some ungodly reason, Greg tells Mike that he just figured out that Mike is the leak and that Greg almost died because of Mike. Mike says his family was threatened and he didn’t have a choice, and that Angela is dirty and they both know it. He says that if they frame Angela as the leak they can collar Ghost and Tommy and that the allegations Angie made about Greg stalking her go away. Mike says he can make the evidence Greg has work. Greg seems to contemplate framing Angie, but decides he has to take Mike in. He says Mike will get a deal. Mike pulls a gun on Greg. Greg talks Mike down, but when he reaches for the gun, Mike shoots him in the neck, then again thru his hand and into the chest.
As Greg bleeds out, Mike places his burner cell that he used to stay in contact with Hugo in a drawer, grabs his beer, and dips.
Greg is dead. The feds are at the crime scene the following morning collecting evidence. Angie swings by to see Greg who hasn’t been answering his phone and is surprised to find Sax in the hallway. No one called her. She looks in to see Greg being zipped into a body bag. She freaks out.
Somewhere in Queens, Kanan and Tarik are in a car parked outside a playground while Kanan schools Tarik on how to talk to girls. In short, holla, keep hollering and eventually she’ll think, “he been liking me all this time” and give up the booty. Sigh. Tarik asks what happened to Kanan’s hand. Kanan says it’s a long story. Tarik says he has to get to school. Kanan offers him a package to take to “Ray Ray” and Tarik should bring back whatever Ray Ray gives him. Lawd. He’s turning the child into a runner.
Tasha and Ghost are at the house and Tasha’s asking why he came in so late and if he went to see Angela. Ghost says they broke up. He says he did see Tommy, who killed Ruiz. He’s pissed that Tommy knew Ruiz was his way out and he blocked it. He doesn’t understand how Tommy could do that after he helped him with Holly. Tasha says Tommy doesn’t want him to get out. Ghost says Tommy is changing. OMG! Ghost sounds just like Tommy in season 1.
Side note: Tasha's faces this season have been killing me softly. LOL.
Tasha wants to know how exactly he helped Tommy with Holly. Ghost avoids the question by going to find Reina’s tap shoes. When he leaves, Tasha texts Tommy to come over because they need to talk.
Tommy pulls up to somewhere where Milan’s henchman is waiting. Tommy says he has a plan to get Milan out of the way and they could be rich and happy. The henchman is interested.
Angie’s in a meeting at work when she gets a text from Jamie saying he needs to see her. MJ comes in to tell the team Greg was the leak and their investigation is a wrap. Mike says he doesn’t believe it. MJ says that Black Donovan and Mike should both lose their jobs. And that Greg’s killer was likely a Lobos associate tying up loose ends.
She adds that there was also no sign of forced entry, which implies that Greg knew his killer and let him in unless the killer came thru an unlocked window. Angela whispers to Sax that Greg never left his windows open. MJ dips, but not without a parting shot to Angela letting her know that her dress and bra were found in the apartment. “Good luck, girl” MJ says. “You’re gonna need it.”
Angie reaches in her phone to text Jamie back.
At the St. Patrick residence, Tommy rushes in thinking Tasha’s text was an emergency. Tasha is livid that he killed Ruiz and that Ghost came to her that morning to tell her. Tasha says Ghost can never know that she told Tommy. Tommy says he has a plan. She tells him he sounds like Ghost. See? It’s not just me. Tasha says she trusts Tommy, but that she is worried about Ghost. “He can be a lying sometime-y motherf—ker,” she says. “But he is still the father of my kids. And I need to protect him even from himself.”
Tommy heads to the elevator, and Tasha stalks behind him. She wants to know how Ghost helped him with Holly. Tommy does that deranged face he does right before he flips and says nothing happened. I gotta feeling that Holly murder is going to come up again. We ain’t done with that storyline.
Angie is waiting at The Diner with Ghost walks in. That’s one of my favorite restaurants and I always sit in that exact seat. If you ever make it by, have the veggie burger and the seasoned fries. It’s great for people watching.
Angie wants to know what Ghost did the night before. He says he went to work at the club. He asks if she had a nice nap with Agent Knox. Ghost says he saw Greg because Greg pulled him over. He recaps their encounter. Angie freaks out. Ghost adds that he would do anything to protect Angie from Greg. Angie freaks further out. Or is it farther? I’m not sure. Anyway, she’s way out, and thinks that Ghost killed Greg. She says she agreed to meet only because she’s in the clear and the case is closed, buts he and Ghost are done-done. Ghost makes a play for them to reconcile, but Angie dips.
Tarik is walking thru the hood with a package under his arm Lawd. Boy! I am from the suburbs. Even I know you tuck a package! He rolls up on Ray Ray and tries to give him a package in the middle of the street. Ray Ray directs him to the side of a building. The package is a bunch of guns. Turns out, Ray Ray is an undercover cop and Tarik is being arrested. Aww hell no. No!
In the squad car, Kanans’ cousin Jukebox is at the wheel. Wait. What’s happening here. She tries to convince Tarik to snitch, but he doesn’t. They threaten to take him in, just as Kanan slips in the car. It’s a test. Tarik is confused just like me.
Angie is at Greg’s investigating the crime scene. She checks the window for prints and yup, there they are. She takes a sample. We know who they match. But what’s Angie going to do when she finds out? She heads back to the office, and with the prints scanned in the computer, she’s scared to hit search because she thinks Ghost’s name will come up.
Sax stops by her office to lament Greg’s passing and that they’ll probably never find the killer. He also low key offers Angie his peen for comfort in case she doesn’t want to go home alone. When he leaves, Angie searches the prints.
In Queens, Tarik is sitting on a plastic covered sofa being teased by Kanan’s friends for his reaction to being fake-arrested earlier. Jukebox points out that Tarik isn’t a hood kid and wonders how much money his dad is worth. Tarik has no idea about the number or what is happening here.
Kanan calls Jukebox into the kitchen. His plan is to have Tarik help him rob the homes of his private school friends. Jukebox has a better idea: hold Tarik for ransom and then kill him after they get the money. It’s a double whammy revenge that will “break” Ghost in the pocket and in his heart. Jukebox calls it a “flawless f—king victory”. And we thought Kanan was evil.
At Truth, everyone who is anyone is there, including Karen and her father and a man named Rashad James who I assume is an athlete. Ghost comps him a magnum of champagne. The club is packed. We have determined this is the old Lotus, right? That used to be the best Sunday night party in the city. I’d tell you about my memories, but um, I don’t remember much. Lotta liquor involved. And the memories I do have? Well, that’s for a book. When I’m really old.
Anyway….
Behind the scenes, Dre is letting into the party some Queens boys who aren’t accustomed to wearing suits. There’s a plan to do something. We don’t know what it is yet. Dre says, “let’s get money.” They ‘bout to rob people? Did Kanan put him up to this?
Upstairs by the bar, Ghost signs the contract with Karen as Milan looks on. The partnership is official. Ugh. Why am I nervous? I want to say that Cousin Courtney wouldn’t kill Ghost as he’s the star of the show. But this is also a show with like a 14 year old’s life in jeopardy. I have no faith in the survival of main characters after the death of Stringer Bell. That changed the way I watch TV.
Tasha strides in looking glorious in floor length white dress. Remember in Season 1 when she wanted to go to her man’s club in thot-wear? Our girl is looking like the owner’s wife, not someone trying to get in free before 11. She’s growing up and it looks good on her. She’s none too happy to see Tatiana who is walking around like her man owns the place. Bihhhhhh.
Ghost strolls up on Milan, who tells him they need to talk. Milan follows Ghost to the balcony and says he is completely deserted and Milan has him now. Ghost pulls a gun on Milan and tells him to look around. Milan watches as all his men get hemmed up by Ghost’s men. Milan looks over at Tatiana who Tasha rolls up on with a gun and a smirk for Ghost. Ghost walks Milan out of the club to the garage where Tommy is waiting with a car. They take him to his warehouse of drugs and kill him with a few shots to the face. Brutal. But that aerial shot is everything.
With Milan dead, Ghost is officially out of the game and a legit businessman and Tommy has a new job with new product. This is a happening ending.
Ghost heads back to the club, and Tommy gets started with the Milan’s number 2, which is now his new Ghost. First step, move the drugs to the new warehouse. Oh, and Tommy plans to sell drugs in Ghost’s new club. He doesn’t think Ghost will agree to it, but won’t give him a choice. That is some real godfather ish. So much for the happy ending.
Tasha arrives home all calm and motherly like she didn’t just pull a gun out at the club to find Reina up past her bedtime. Tasha wants to know where Tarik is. Reina says he’s hanging out with his new friend, who is a friend of Dre’s and Shawn and knew “Dad and Uncle Tommy” knew when they were younger. Tasha is immediately alarmed. She calls Tarik.
Tarik is at the traphouse sleepy off Purp that’s either really strong or has been drugged. He quickly passes out. Kanan takes off his jacket to reveal his tattoos while his friends take a pic. He sends the photo to Tasha, who completely freaks out, as expected. There’s a follow up text that if she wants Tarik back she has to pay.
Ghost reappears at the club to meet up with Karen and her father like he didn’t just commit another murder. He offers James his jet to head to Dubai and get started on the club plans. James is thrilled. He looks down to see Angie walking through the club. He thinks she’s come because she’s had second thoughts about being with him. He greets her with a kiss and says he never meant to her. She says that doesn’t matter. He says their love matters and now they can be together.
Negro. I know you heard that primal scream she let out when you dumped her. Ya’ll are never, ever getting back together. You’re a wrap, B.
Angie responds by whipping out handcuffs to arrest Ghost in the middle of the club. Wait. Wait. Wait.
What?
She thinks Ghost killed Greg. Holy sh--, Ang. I didn’t think she’d arrest him once his prints were confirmed. I mean, he’s got stuff on her too. If he talks, she goes down too. But maybe she’s on some “f--- it all.” As Karen and her father look on in disappointment, Dre walks up to stand next to Karen. Oh, they’re so doing it next season. And I guess Dre will be running Ghost’s club now. Welp.
Angie escorts a cuffed Ghost outside past the paparazzi cameras and into a waiting vehicle. James says he can’t believe she’s doing this. She hits him with the same line he gave her when he broke up with her: “believe it. It’s the right decision.”
She closes the door and James sits alone, looking confused. Cuffed. In the back of a police car.
Damn homie.
Yeah… so… Is it bad that I don’t even feel bad for him? Like, he’s been such a profound douche to everyone who cares about him this season--- his kids, his wife, his mistress, Tommy. He was so bad to the baby that she left the show.
And he’s killed so many people I’ve lost count. I’m thinking that body count has to be at least 10 over the last three seasons. Let’s see: the guy in the first episode, “Marlo” as the Jamaican drug dealer this time, the guy who looked like Wiz Khalifa, Lobos, Milan, two Koreans, at least three other drug dealers… and I know I’m forgetting a bunch.
So, no, he didn’t kill Greg, but it’s not like he’s innocent of murder. My only real concern is: does Tasha have enough money to get Tarik back unharmed, keep the house/standard of living and keep the kids in private school? If no, I’m sure Tommy will pitch in. He should have a lot of extra money laying around since he never bought enough furniture or goes grocery shopping.
And where the hell is Keisha? And will Tasha ever notice her youngest baby has gone missing? How long until Holly’s body resurfaces and someone recalls a strange looking white man being in the area? And if Ghost is locked up, and Holly and Greg are dead, where are all our sex scenes going to come from? Dre and Karen? Dear God, no more Fiddy sex scenes.
What did you think of the season finale?
