Jamie wakes up dreaming of Angie, in a black lace teddy, beside him. He tells her, “I love you. I always loved you… I didn’t mean to hurt you. But I had too.”
In real life, he’s back at the hotel—is that Dream Downtown?— with an amazing view of the city. He sleeps with the curtains open. Nice. He gets a text message to meet in front of Truth at 11.
At Angie’s, she’s venting to big sister, Paz, about her break up with Jamie. Paz is all yeah-saw-this-coming (like everyone watching at home), but Angie, who is a trained investigator who reads people for a living, was blindsided. “How could he do this to me?”, she asks. She says she compromised herself for him because she thought he was worth it. Paz says Angie will find someone else. Angie says she doesn’t want to and she’ll never let someone in the way she did Jamie.
There’s a knock at the door. It’s Tim from work. Angie’s to bring her laptop and her phone. That’s all he can say.
At the office, Angie reminds Tim that she’s done favors for him before. He says she and her coworkers have been called in by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). She heads to her office. Her computer and all her files are gone. All there is to do is wait.
Ghost is meeting with Karen aka Blondie at Truth. Their deal is a go and Jamie will wire her the money to seal the deal by the end of the day. Andre walks in and he and Karen do that thing that they do. “Have you seen you?” she says, stealing my favorite line. “We can’t afford to have you just pushing papers in the back.” Karen’s gotta run. Ciao for now.
Back at the FBI, Mike and the Big Boss are meeting with the folks from OPR, who are investigating the task force for a criminal conspiracy about Lobos’s abduction and subsequent murder. The phone found on Lobos links him to a phone someone in the office. Boss Lady dismisses Mike from the room. He’s a suspect like everyone else
At Truth, Tommy saunters in with our “tall glass of tequila” Julio. Dre tries to be cordial with Tommy, but Tommy’s a no go, shooting him the bird. He tells Ghost, “I’m not working with that Tony the Tiger looking MF”. *snort laugh* Ghost says they can’t talk in the club and he and Tommy head outside.
Julio makes small talk with Dre, asking him if he’s “back in” to. Dre has no clue what he’s talking about. “It’s not looking like it”, Dre says.
On the sidewalk in the Meatpacking district, Tommy asks Ghost if he killed Angie. Ghost says he dumped her and that she’s not a threat as the taskforce is over. Tommy is skeptical. Ghost tells Tommy to “check his attitude”. He also notices Tommy is wearing his mother’s ring, the one he gave Holly, on his chain.
But on to more important news, they need to figure out what to do about Milan. And they ain’t doing sh—until they learn him better.
The 11 AM meet is happening. A truck pulls up to take Tommy and Ghost to a destination unknown. Kanan is sitting in a car near by sipping drank, watching it all go down.
At the house, Tasha and Tarik are headed to Tarik’s therapy sessions, the ones that are mandated by the school before he returns to class. Tarik is not feeling therapy—or his father. He says he hates Ghost and he knows his mom does too. Tasha says she doesn’t. Tarik says she’s a “f---ing liar just like him.” Tasha goes to slap the sh—out of him, which we all saw coming, and Tarik blocks her hand. This is worse than grabbing the belt. This boy has a death wish.
Tasha’s so shocked she can’t even kill him. She sends him to his room and calls Ghost to “come talk to your child”. She ain’t even claiming him right now.
Mike is being interviewed by the OPR. In short, he knows nothing, did nothing, and ain’t saying sh--. Now Angie’s being interviewed. They’re more suspicious of her than Mike because she has a habit of not playing by the rules. They interview everybody else and Knox too. They laugh at whatever was in his file. I wanna know!
OPR Boss Lady informs everyone that Lobos is dead. Angie takes it bad. She tries to cover saying that she was really invested in the case, but we know it’s because she thinks Jamie killed him. She asks for a moment and heads to the bathroom. Boss Lady follows her. “Used to having the bathroom to yourself, huh?” She tells Angie that she still has “that certain set of skills that still makes em listen when you talk. Turn 40. They turn into Hellen Keller.” She advises Angie that she transfer to general crimes and “get a bench before she turns into a pumpkin.“
Angie asks Boss Lady if she thinks the Jiminez Brothers killed Lobos. Boss Lady says that’s not her problem, Eastern District is working that. But when they find out, it’s going to lead, “right back here.” Angie looks even more shaken.
Somewhere in the City, Jamie and Tommy are riding in the truck with Milan, who is so unbothered as he f—s with Jamie, who he says, “is enslaved to me”. Jamie falls in line with a “yes, Jeffe.” Tommy gives no f---ks either. He asks Milan, “you really eat people?” LOL. Kinda. Milan doesn’t answer tho.
Milan takes the duo to their factory. The gang- ie, all of the guys the middle managers who work for Tommy and Ghost—is all there. Milan mentions that Father Callahan is out because he runs guns for the Albanians. Tommy says removing him is bad for business. He tells Tommy to kill Father Callahan. Tommy says no. In other news, Milan plans to sell drugs in Ghost’s nightclubs. Milan responds by killing a man who did not follow instructions. Then he asks Ghost for a cashier’s check for the full cost of his product made out to his security company. Oh, and by the end of the day. James says he can’t do it because his money is tied up with Karen.
Jamie asks Tommy to float him the money. Tommy ain’t feeling it, and doesn’t understand why Ghost is going along. Ghost says he’s not, he’s playing along until he can figure it out. “I can’t get out of this shit alone,” he says. Tommy reminds Ghost that Ghost is not his boss and he will handle things his own way.
Ghost swings by to see Tasha, who has a mouthful to say about Tarik, including he raised a hand to her. “If he [does that], the worst is yet to come!” Ehh… He didn’t raise a hand to her. He stopped her from slapping him, which is instinctive and great reflexes. Ghost says he’ll talk to him and straighten him out. Tasha says, “yeah. Because you’re the one that got him crooked.”
Ghost switches subjects. He says he needs Tasha’s help and asks her from a short term loan from the IRA and the kids’s trust. “Shouldn’t you be asking that other woman for help?” Tasha asks. “All that lawyer money she got?” Jamie says he ended his relationship with Angela. He doesn’t say that Angela doesn’t have that kind of money. Tasha still says no. “I’m not betting their future on yours”, she says.
Andre is taking out the garbage at Truth when Kanan runs up on him, accusing him of lying about Ghost and Tommy being on the outs. Andre says he just found out the dup reunited. He says he’ll call Kanan later.
Inside the club, Jamie is meeting with Karen and her dad, who calls Jamie “the Stern vanquisher”. Everyone’s in good spirits, so James asks for a favor. He needs a few weeks to come up with the cash to buy in. Karen’s dad says James isn’t in financial shape to join the group and bails. Karen tells him to get the money.
Tommy swings by Tasha’s to pick up a check. He’s headed out the door when Tasha runs after him and blurts, “why did you do that to Holly?” She thinks Tommy and Holly broke up because she told him she was pregnant and says as much. “She’s out there alone pregnant with your child, probably halfway to Ohio by now,” she says. Tommy says he has to go. He looks out of it. He gets on the elevator, and finger his chain with the ring he gave Holly on it.
At the FBI offices OPR Boss Lady is interviewing Greg, who throws Angela under the bus. To his credit, he genuinely thinks she’s guilty here. And it’s not like she’s clean. Boss Lady thinks Greg is onto something.
At Truth, Jamie is in his office, looking at Tatiana’s driver’s license. She was the waitress who left the bloody card on his desk and when he went to look for her, she was dead in her apartment. He’s about to make a call when Andre pops in to say he wants back in to the game. Ghost says he didn’t bring him in because he wanted more for Dre. Dre asks what about what he wants for himself. He suggests they take a walk and breaks down the whole situation with Vladimir and Milan to Dre.
Dre: “the n---a that eats people?”
Me: *streaming tears of laughter*
Ghost says if Dre helps him get rid of Milan, he’ll give him half of the business when he gets out. Tommy runs the other half. Dre reminds Ghost that Tommy doesn’t like him. Ghost says he’ll take care of it and Dre says he’s in. He also hands him the info on Tattiana to file a missing persons report.
Back at the FBI, Boss Lady is interviewing Mike again. He throws Angie under the bus, asking how much they know about her relationship with James.
Across town, Jamie swings by Angie’s to pick up his things. He still has a key? Anyway, Paz is there. And she gives the Jamie the business. She also tells him that the Feds practically dragged Angie out of the house this morning to investigate her. Then she kicks him out, but not before a reminder: “If I ever catch you near my sister again, I’ll kill you with my bare hands.” Oh. And she wants the keys.
At the FBI, OPM Boss Lady questions Angie again, reading her texts to Jamie. She says that Jamie used her. “You got duped again sweetie. Love’ll do that to you,” she says. “When St. Patrick looked at you… he saw a typical woman, a sucker.” Angela says that she didn’t get played, that she played Jamie. She says she slept with Jamie to get information about Lobos. “Every action I have ever taken.. has been to mount Lobos’s head on a wall,” Angie says. “And I dare you to find any evidence to the contrary,” The Master Feds to tell her she is free to go. When she leaves, Boss Lady says they need to speak to James.
Tommy swings by the church to talk to Father Callahan. He’s sitting in the confessional with a gun talking about the mistakes he made. I think he’s there to kill Father Callahan, but I wonder if he’s there to kill himself. But the he flips to business and tells Father that he can’t run guns anymore. Father says the guns pay for the soup kitchen. Tommy says, “then have a bake sale.” LOL. Tommy pulls the gun, Father says no guns. Tommy puts the safety back on and walks out, fingering his chain again.
Angie gets home and finds Jamie’s clothes are all gone from her closet, save for one pair of shoes. She says something in Spanish. I really want to know what it is. Then she calls the Odette hotel to check on Jamie’s alibi. And then…
OH MY GOD!!!! She shows up at Tasha’s. Ma’am!!! What are you thinking?
She asks Tasha if she was at the Odette hotel two days ago. Tasha says that’s none of her business. Angela says if she is covering for him she will lose everything. Tasha says Jamie did murder something. Lawd! “You know how he is with it, nearly broke my damn back.”
Me: *hops in casket*
Angela says that’s not true, which actually it isn’t. But she doesn’t know that for sure. She says Ghost wasn’t there because he was killing Lobos.
Tasha: “Ghost and I f--ked all night”
Me: *casket closed*
Tasha says Ghost is upstairs and Angie can call and ask him for herself.
Angie: How could you take him back?
Tasha: I. AM. HIS. WIFE! And the mother of his children. I never lost him. So whatever you think he did the other night, he was with me. You were a mid-life crisis, Angela. Crisis over.
Me: *buried*
Ya’ll. I’m not famous to have Stevie come sing for me. If ya’ll would kindly rent some good speakers in a church with good acoustics and play a few songs, it would be greatly appreciated.
Somewhere in Queens, Kanan is helping an old lady carry her groceries up the stairs. Kanan never does nice sh--. He ‘bout to kill this lady. Dre calls while the woman fumbles with her keys. He’s spilling all the tea about Milan about the anonymous tip, everything. Dre says Ghost is scared.
The apartment is open. Dre puts Kanan on hold, and kills the old lady with a Jesus Saves pillow, and then this mofo gets right back on the phone like nothing happened.
Yo. I was joking when I said I thought Kanan was going to kill her. I didn’t think he would actually kill her. This man is a savage. Kanan says he’s going to give Ghost “a history lesson, take him back in time”, whatever that means. He walks to the wall and removes a picture of white Jesus. There’s a hole. A bullet hole?
At the St. Patricks, Ghost and Tarik are having a father-son talk. Tarik says he didn’t raise his hand to hit his mother, but block her, which is true. Jamie says Tarik has to apologize. “You want me to apologize like I did to your side b----h, right?” Tarik asks. This child needs more therapy. He has lost his mind.
Jamie loses it, yolking Tarik up like he’s a d-boy who crossed him. “What the f—k did you say to me, little m----rf—ker”? Tarik ain’t never seen the Ghost side of his father. Jamie catches himself and looks ashamed, Tarik bumps him off and walks out. Jamie calls after him. But gets distracted with a text. It’s Paz saying Angela needs to see him. Hold up. Why does Paz have his number?
Before he can respond, Tasha pops in pissed that he made dinner plans without telling her.
Guess who came to dinner?
“Dean” and Tatianna, who used to work at Truth. Tasha calls the kids for dinner. James says “just adults” but Dean, great guy that he is, brought enough for everyone.
The women walk to the kitchen and James confronts Milan for popping up at his house. Milan says he heard James was looking for Tatianna so he considered it an invitation to bring her by. “I warned you…,” he says before marching off to introduce himself to Reina and Tarik. “Family is important to James,” he says. “And what is important to him is important to me.” That was a threat. Milan takes a seat at the head of the table like it’s his house. LOL. He calls after James to join them, but he’s stuck in the same stupor that happens to all the characters in Spike Lee movies right before something bad happens.
After dinner, Jamie gives Milan the cashier’s check. He tells Jamie that he needs to find a way to fix the deal with Karen because he wants to sell drugs in his clubs and her hotels. And then he pulls out a cigarette and smokes, which is so disrespectful. He tells Jamie to think of his kids the next time he thinks of betraying him. “You have everything to lose,” Milan says as he leaves.
The elevator doors are barely closed when Tasha asks Ghost “WTF is going on?” He takes her outside. Hey! Isn’t the rooftop pool from SATC? The one Samantha and Richard skinny dipped in that time?
Tasha says Angie came by. Jamie explains the whole Milan/Dean sitautaion and says, “he’s the most dangerous man I ever met” and “he wants me to suffer.” Ghost says he thinks Milan made a mistake and he’s going to use it to get out.
Tommy’s across town drinking with Holly, who is yes, still dead and in the ground. Lawd. This is sad. A car pulls up and Tommy’s tazed. It’s Milan’s guys. They take him to the warehouse and beat the sh—out of him. The order comes to “kill him already.” He resigns to the beat down. Milan shows up, sees the fight and sees Tommy isn’t fighting back.
He goes to talk to Tommy. This beating is because Tommy didn’t kill Father Callahan. But Milan has decided that he isn’t simple, unlike what Vladimir told him. He asks Tommy why he wants to die and assesses it’s “about the girl”. He says Tommy has immense value as he has nothing to lose. “This is the best time to be alive,” he says.
Ghost is at the hotel when Angie pops by. She says she can’t stay long as she might have been followed. Jamie says he wants to know if he’s ok. Angie says she isn’t. Her job thinks she’s involved with him killing Lobos. She needs to know who told him where Lobos would be. “You used me”, she accuses. “Admit it.”
Jamie jacks Angela up to check her for a wire. She won’t do it because, “if you go down, I go down”. Hey. Isn’t that Billie Dee William’s line from Mahogany? Or is it Lady Sings the Blues?
Angie told him Lobos was alive, which makes her part of the criminal conspiracy. She wants Jamie to help her find the leak. Jamie says she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. “You’re gonna let me get the death penalty for something I didn’t do?” she says. “You lied. You never loved me.”
James says he loves her and he’ll fix it. But he doesn’t know about Lobos. Angie tells him to find out. She storms out, he begs her not to, she leaves anyway.
These two. They are exhausting. Still not as bad as Olivia and Fitz tho. I think Angie and Jamie are actually done-done.
The End.
