Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans

July Fourth Weekend, 2015

I was in town a day early to work Essence Music Festival for maybe my fifth year? I've lost track. But I (finally) wanted to see the city beyond the French Quarter. I went to New Orleans Museum of Art, walked thru City Park, then, unable to find a cab (in the drizzle), trekked up Esplanade Avenue, a historic street (I had no idea at the time. See what happens when you explore?). It was once considered the  "Millionaire's Row" of the  f Louisiana Creole community, and many of the 19th century mansions (seen here) have been preserved.
